Installation is simple to install with common tools. There is no piping or electrical power connection to consider. The cylinder is mounted in the center of the ceiling of the trailer, shop, or garage. The thermally activated head is pointed to the most likely source of a fire. (In a trailer, for example, this is usually towards the front where power tools, rags, flammable liquids, or a hot engine, are normally situated). The cylinder securely mounts to the ceiling with two U-brackets that attach to rails mounted to the frame of a trailer, or to joists in a building. Mounting hardware and instructions are included.

How the Automatic Fire Suppression System Works

The Automatic Fire Suppression System contains a steel cylinder charged with our unique clean agent gas and capped with a thermally actuated head. When the head detects an ambient temperature higher than its rating, the system activates, discharging the agent to flood the space and extinguish the fire. The system is available in two models, the HG4500S or HG5500S to accommodate the size of the area to be protected. Select one of four available thermally activated heads based on the maximum temperature expected under normal conditions (i.e. a very hot day) plus 50 degrees F.

What is a Clean Agent?

The National Fire Protection Association defines, a "Clean Agent" as "an electrically non-conducting, volatile, or gaseous fire extinguishant that does not leave a residue upon evaporation." The HalGuard™ system contains HFC-227ea, a very effective, safe, EPA-approved clean agent that floods an enclosed space to extinguish and prevent the spread of a fire. It is effective on A, B and C-class fires.
