When it comes to outfitting a new 6th gen Toyota 4Runner, smart use of space matters just as much as capability. Nick from NJ recently shared a clean and clever way to install our HalGuard PRO Halon fire extinguisher in his 2025 TRD Off-Road Premium Hybrid, and it's a great example of doing it right without overcomplicating things.

His goal was simple: keep essential safety gear secure, accessible, and out of the way. Using our Extreme Duty quick-release bracket, he mounted the extinguisher directly to the plastic panel above the rear wheel well in the cargo area. The clever part? He pulled off a solid, rattle-free install without drilling a single hole into the vehicle.

Instead, he used the bracket backing plates along with #10-32 x 1" screws, nuts, and washers to clamp the mount securely to the existing panel. The backing plates are positioned at the top outer holes of the Extreme Duty quick-release bracket, and he used the same screws in the middle mounting holes with 3/16 x 1/4" washers. The result is a tight, durable hold that feels factory-integrated while remaining completely reversible.

“I wanted something secure but didn’t want to permanently modify the truck. This setup is super solid, and I can remove the extinguisher in seconds if I need it.”

The quick-release function keeps the extinguisher ready at a moment's notice while maintaining a clean, low-profile look in the cargo area.

Nick didn't stop there. For medical readiness, he also added our MyFAK First Aid Kit, which fits perfectly into the wheel well space. To keep it in place, he created a custom quick-release strap using 1-inch nylon webbing and a buckle, securing the kit snugly while still allowing fast access.

"It tucks in perfectly and doesn't move around at all. Everything has its place now."

This setup is a great reminder that you don't need complex fabrication to build a functional, trail-ready system. With a bit of creativity and the right hardware, you can protect your vehicle and your passengers while keeping your interior clean and organized.

Simple, secure, and ready for anything.
